Former employee sentenced to prison, home detention for stealing $200,000 from fraternity foundation

Woman paid off credit card, gave money to family

INDIANAPOLIS - A woman who stole more than $200,000 while working at an Indianapolis-based fraternity has been sentenced to prison and home detention.

Cheryl Dillon-Britt worked for the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation for 13 years before she was charged with 14 counts of theft in January.

Over three years, Dillon-Britt issued checks to friends and family members, depositing the money into accounts she co-owned with them, and used foundation money to pay off her personal credit card.

Dillon-Britt was found guilty of 13 counts of theft on May 1.

She was sentenced Friday to two years in the Indiana Department of Correction, two years on home detention and six years on probation. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the foundation.
