LEBANON, Ind. - A former Lebanon city employee is accused of stealing more than $35,000 in gun permit fees.

Jamie C. Houghton, 32, is charged in federal court with three counts of theft from a program receiving federal funds.

Investigators said Houghton intercepted gun permit fees that were paid in cash, failing to turn over the money to the Lebanon Clerk Treasurer.

Houghton eventually admitted to stealing $35,250 for personal use, investigators said.

If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

The charges came out of the U.S. Attorney's Public Integrity Working Group, which was created in April to spearhead corruption investigations.
