INDIANAPOLIS - A Franklin Township teacher was arrested Tuesday on charges in connection with child molestation.
Thomas Haydock was listed as a fourth grade teacher at Mary Adams Elementary School in Franklin Township.
Officials with the Franklin Township Community School Corporation said Haydock engaged in illegal conduct with a minor four years ago.
Police said the victim was a 10-year-old student.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Haydock was arrested after he surrendered to police.
The issue was brought to the attention of FTCSC in April and the school corporation started an investigation and informed Child Protective Services which resulted in a criminal investigation, school officials said.
That same day, FTCSC removed Haydock from the classroom and put him on administrative leave.
FTSCS is investigating and said Haydock will not be allowed back into the classroom unless he is exonerated of the charges.
Parents and neighbors told RTV6 that Haydock also tutored children in his home.
Haydock is the second Franklin Townshp teacher to get into trouble for improper conduct with children within the past year.
Bob Roach was fired after being accused of child solicitation last October.
