SARASOTA, Fla. - A 17-year-old boy from Columbus was found dead at the bottom of a pool in Florida early Friday morning, officials there said.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department said a resident of the Crystal Sands Condominiums found Garrett Mabrey, 17, at the bottom of the pool just before 3:30 a.m.
Mabrey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Mabrey’s family had seen him just before midnight. They were staying at the condos while on vacation, WWSB-TV in Sarasota reported.
Detectives believe the teen’s death was accidental, but an autopsy will be performed.
