INDIANAPOLIS -- Gleaners Food Bank is again teaming up with local police and other community agencies to help needy families eat this summer.

Hundreds of people gathered with bags and empty boxed Monday to get much-needed food.

Gleaners is targeting six areas around Indianapolis where more than 25 percent of the city's crimes were occurring. The organization partnered with churches, police, fire, and IMS to launch CARE mobile food pantries in 2015.

This year, workers decided residents in these areas need more wraparound services like health screenings, educational support and assistance with applications for SNAP, the Supplemental Food Nutrition Program.

The best part: All of that aid is available free of charge.

The mobile food pantry will run throughout the summer until August 27.
