LAWRENCE, Ind. -- A very tall man who is homeless received a pair of shoes that are hard to find thanks to Lawrence police and the Indiana Pacers.

A 7-foot tall person who is homeless frequents the area of Pendleton Pike and I-465. Lawrence police describe him as very nice, someone who doesn't cause problems, doesn't bother people and rarely asks for anything.

A reserve officer with the Lawrence Police Department  came to know the man and frequently checks on him while working.

On one recent occasion, the officer noticed his shoes were torn up and barely hanging together. Because of his tall stature, the man's shoe size is a 17, and finding the right fit is difficult.

The officer did some research and after coming up empty handed, reached out to the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers donated a pair of size 17 shoes that were made for a former player, and the officer delivered the shoes to the man along with socks and a few other essential items.

Neither wish to be identified, but the Lawrence Police Department posted the story to Facebook with a special thank you to the Pacers and a show of gratitude to the officer.
