GREENWOOD, Ind. – A grandmother who spent the past nine years raising eight of her grandchildren was surprised with a Mother’s Day makeover Friday.

Katherine Gautier walked through the doors of Studio 135 in Greenwood and was surprised by what salon employees had in store for her.

During her visit, Gautier got her hair cut and colored for free in order to honor her for the holiday thanks to Visiting Angels – a non-medical home care organization.

“I never get time for me so this is the best. This is absolutely the best,” she said.

Visiting Angels has helped Gautier function while dealing with COPD.

“There are a lot of people who can't get out and do anything, and so we just thought we would do something nice for one of our clients to make them feel better and make them feel like that they're important,” said Kala Traughber, client manager at Visiting Angels.

Gautier said while the makeover was great, she said the real prize has been watching her children grow up.

It's better than any makeover you could have is to know your children have grown into good people,” she said.
