GREENCASTLE, Ind. - A Greencastle man was arrested Thursday afternoon after a nearly month-long investigation into the mistreatment of a 3-year-old boy.
Donald Leitner, 19, faces felony charges including battery resulting in bodily injury and neglect of a dependent, officials with the Indiana State Police said.
Police received a tip in early November from the Putnam County Department of Child Services about the alleged abuse.
During their investigation, police said they discovered evidence that Leitner allegedly squeezed the genital area of the boy because he had several accidents.
The child had to be medically treated as a result of the pain and bruising, officials said.
Leitner remains in the Putnam County Jail with no bond.
