GREENFIELD, Ind. - The family of a central Indiana mayor decided against further treatment for liver cancer, opting for in-home hospice care. That mayor died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday.
Greenfield Mayor Dick Pasco was suffering liver problems since soon before his 2011 election. His family says he was hospitalized Nov. 30 for dehydration and pain, but returned home on Friday.
The City of Greenfield confirmed that Pasco died Tuesday morning.
A statement to the Daily Reporter from Pasco's wife and daughter didn't give details on his illness, but said they appreciated the public's support and prayers.
City Councilman Jason Horning has been appointed mayor pro tem for the 20,000-person city about 15 miles east of Indianapolis.
