GREENFIELD, Ind. - A Greenfield grandmother died in a duplex fire Tuesday evening, officials confirmed to RTV6.
Tina Klare, 66, was found deceased inside the home, feet away from a patio door, officials said.
Klare's sister and her 12-year-old granddaughter also live in the home, near Fields Boulevard and Warren Way.
Klare's granddaughter has been flown to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in serious condition with injuries related to smoke inhalation.
No injuries to Klare's sister were reported.
Two police officers who responded to the scene also suffered injuries from smoke inhalation. One officer was treated on the scene and released, but the other was transported to the hospital.
Dep. Chief Jason Horning, with the Greenfield Fire Department, said his crew always feels the blow from fires like this.
"Obviously they take it hard," Horning said. "What they expect to do every time they go out the door is to be able to make the rescue."
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
