INDIANAPOLIS - A 2-year-old Howard County boy died at the hospital Monday after apparently falling into a pool, police said.
Officials said they were called to a Greentown home about 3:30 p.m. Monday by Brandy Newell, who said her son was not breathing.
Witnesses said the boy, Daymian Newell, was playing in the yard with other children before the incident.
Police said the other children went inside the house and later realized that Daymian had not come in with them.
When they went to look for him, the children found Daymian floating face down in the pool and pulled him from the water, police said.
The kids then alerted their mother, who said she found Daymian lying on the ground near the pool steps, and he was not breathing.
Medics performed CPR, but Daymian was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the boy's exact cause of death.
