DETROIT - An 89-year-old Indiana man caught in Michigan with a load of cocaine plans to plead guilty next week.
A court filing says Leo Sharp is due in Detroit federal court on Oct. 8 to change his not-guilty plea. A message seeking comment was left for his lawyer.
The Michigan City man was 87 when he was stopped in Washtenaw County in 2011, based on a tip to state police by federal agents. Police discovered more than 200 pounds of cocaine.
Sharp says he was forced at gunpoint to transport the cocaine. But agents say he wasn't a reluctant drug mule. They say there's evidence he'd been hauling drugs for years.
