BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A jury has found a man guilty of murder for fatally shooting a Bloomington pizza delivery man who interrupted a car burglary.
Jurors also found 23-year-old James Finney guilty of two misdemeanor gun charges that were upgraded to felonies because of a previous felony intimidation conviction.
Twenty-two-year-old Adam Sarnecki was fatally shot Nov. 4, 2011, as he returned from delivering a pizza and confronted a man breaking into his boss's car. Sarnecki, who was shot once in the lower back, died in surgery.
The Herald-Times reports (http://bit.ly/GE9bR20 ) defense lawyers argued Finney was just trying to steal money from the car and was frightened when he was confronted by Sarnecki in a dark parking lot, surrounded by woods, sheds, a retention wall and metal rebar.
Sentencing is set for Nov. 6.
