Fishers police arrest 2 teens, 1 adult in shooting

FISHERS, Ind. -- Two teenagers and one adult have been arrested in connection with a shooting last week in Fishers, Indiana.

Around 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, officers with Fishers Police were called to the area of 131st Street and State Road 37, where they found an 18-year-old man who had been shot. He was found behind a sandwich shop. 

According to the probable cause document, the victim told police he was meeting some people to sell them marijuana. He said one of the buyers tried to rob him, but shot him instead. 

Divers from the police and fire departments searched a retention pond near 116th Street and Hazel Dell Road, where they found the gun believed to be used in the shooting.

Alan Mendez, 17, Ivan Jeronimo, 18, and Alexander Lopez, 16, were arrested. All three were found in Marion County. Lopez and Mendez were filed into adult court. 

According to Fishers Police, the victim is still in the hospital. Court documents say he was hit near the spine, and was paralyzed from the chest down.

Mendez faces the following charges:

  • Attempted murder
  • Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury 
  • Armed Robbery
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Dangerous Possession of a Firearm
  • Intimidation
  • Pointing a Firearm at a Person
  • Theft
  • Carrying a Firearm without a permit
  • Enhancement for Use of a Firearm

Jeronimo faces the following charges: 

  • Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Robbery armed with a deadly weapon, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Aggravated Battery, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Theft, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing

Lopez faces the following charges:

  • Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Robbery armed with a deadly weapon, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Aggravated Battery, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
  • Theft, Aiding, Inducing, or Causing
