Hancock County firefighters go to Gatlinburg to drop off supplies

NEW PALESTINE, Ind. -- Firefighters from Sugar Creek Township left for Gatlinburg, Tennessee Friday morning to drop off supplies to first responders who are battling wildfires that have toppled hundreds of structures in a popular tourist area and are responsible for at least 10 deaths. 

The Sugar Creek Township Fire Department took to Instagram to share their journey, asking for assistance in donations to support those fighting the fires in Gatlinburg.

The supplies needed are eye drops, Powerade, baby wipes, towels, protein bars and other snacks.

If you would like to donate to the effort, Sugar Creek asks that you drop off items at the Sugar Creek Township Fire Department fire house located at 3545 S 600W, New Palestine, IN 46163 or contact Lieutenant Dustin Dishman at 317-223-7965.

A few off duty SCTFD firefighters are heading to Gatlinburg on Friday morning to deliver supplies to first responders. These first responders have been working around the clock in response to the devastating wildfires in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. The supplies they are requesting are water, eye drops, powerade, baby wipes, towels, protein bars, and snacks in general. If you would like to assist us with this donation you can drop off these items at either SCTFD firehouse or contact Lt. Dustin Dishman at 317-223-7965.
