HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- Funeral arrangements and procession information have been released for a Greenfield firefighter who died after fighting a large auto repair shop fire Friday that spread to a nearby shopping area.
Firefighter Scott A. Compton was one of the many firefighters who responded to Mueller Auto Body and Glass on U.S. 40 in Greenfield around 5 p.m for a large fire that spread to stores in the adjacent Riley Park Plaza.
According to the Greenfield Daily Reporter, Compton, 55, died of a heart attack in the hours that followed the firefight.
A small procession will be held Thursday, November 16 at 11 a.m. to move Compton's body from Erlwein Funeral Home to Brandywine Church. The procession route will be East on US 40 to Blue Road and then north to the church.
Visitation for Compton will follow from 2 - 8 p.m., at Brandywine Community Church.
Compton's funeral will be Friday, November 17 at 11 a.m., also at Brandywine Community Church.
There will be a procession from the church to Park Cemetery in Greenfield following the service, where the remainder of the ceremony will take place.

PROCESSION ROUTE:
Because Compton's death occurred within 48 hours of fighting a fire, it's considered a line-of-duty death.
Governor Holcomb has ordered all flags in Hancock County to be flown at half-staff on Friday.
Compton served the fire department for 17 years, and was actively working part-time with the rank of lieutenant.
