Woman struck by vehicle, killed in Hancock County

NEW PALESTINE, Ind. -- A woman was struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday evening in New Palestine, Indiana. 

The woman, Glenda Meharg, 56, was on US 52 near 7400 W around 7:45 p.m., said Capt. Robert Campbell of the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.

A car was traveling east on US 52 when it hit Meharg as she was crossing the road. Meharg was taken to an Indianapolis-area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The 19-year-old driver was not injured.

No further information is available. Campbell initially said the victim's name was Linda Meharg, but later corrected it.
