INDIANAPOLIS - An 8-year-old girl who recently received a new heart is expected to live her dream Wednesday, with a chance to meet her idol, Justin Bieber.
The pop star is scheduled to perform at a sold-out show at Banker's Life Fieldhouse.
Katelyn Newell, a Riley Hospital for Children patient, received a heart transplant in April. She had previously undergone three heart surgeries, the first just days after her birth.
While living at the hospital and awaiting a transplant, Newell had decorated her room with posters of Bieber, including a life-sized cutout.
After she saw one of RTV6's stories on Newell, Alexandra Traycoff, 24, a fellow Bieber fan born with a heart defect, surprised Newell with two tickets to Bieber's show in Indianapolis.
A teacher at Deming Elementary School in Terre Haute helped Newell's family by raising nearly $10,000 to go toward the girl's medical expenses.
