INDIANAPOLIS -- What’s there to do this weekend in Indy? We’ve got six events you don’t want to miss.

A glance into Broad Ripple's past

In the early '90s before Broad Ripple was known as the trendy, bar-hopping, small-shop neighborhood it is today, the area’s park was the cool place to hang out.

Broad Ripple park was home to an amusement park complete with roller coasters, bumper cars, games, a petting zoo and more.

From Aug 11-14, the Broad Ripple Village Association will hold a four-day festival in the park. The festival, celebrating the neighborhood and the state’s bicentennial will feature much of what the park was known for: carnival games, food and live entertainment.

Cirque du Soleil for less than Vegas prices

Guess what? You can catch a Cirque De Soleil performance without the $300+ pricetag attached. The “Avatar”-themed show, Tourk – the First Flight will transport you into the world of Pandora Aug 10-14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Tickets are still on sale.

Take a ghost walk…if you dare

Be prepared to be spooked during the haunted ghost walk in downtown Indianapolis. Beginning on Monument Circle at 9 p.m., the journey will explore some of the city’s haunted theaters, businesses and other areas where spirits have been spotted. The tour is headed by those of Unseenpress.com and new tours are added monthly.

Transport yourself into the '90s

Eight ‘90s hip-hop artists will dominate the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn at White River State Park Aug. 13 at The Beat Summer Jam- I Love the ‘90s concert. The show will feature all of the decade’s favorites like Vanilla Ice, Tone L?c, Coolio, Rob Base, All-4-One, Young MC, Color Me Badd and Kool Moe Dee. The show begins at 6 p.m. and tickets are going fast.

Ride into Indy's art scene

Grab your two-wheeler, your bike that is, and join other cyclists who will tour the city’s murals, sculptures, electronic art on and around the Indiana Statehouse. Members of the Arts Council will lead the tour through Mile Square and at the conclusion, chat about the public art seen on the trip…all over a free pint of beer courtesy of Sun King Brewing Co. Tour capacity is limited, so riders are recommended to sign up in advance.

Bottoms up!

Don’t go crazy when we tell you this…but the Indy Beer Bash features over 70 beers from some of the city’s best breweries. Food trucks will also be on site to fulfill your hunger at the event held Aug. 13 beginning at 1 p.m. on Georgia Street. A huge party tent, music, games and more will also be available. This event is rain or shine and VIP tickets let you in one hour early. Remember: You’re not the only beer lover here, so you may want to look into this rather quickly if interested.
