INDIANAPOLIS - City crews worked to fix a toppled traffic light near downtown Indianapolis early Friday after a hit-and-run driver crashed into a pole that held the signal.
The crash happened just before midnight at the intersection of 16th and Martin Luther King Jr. streets when a car crashed into the pole before fleeing the scene.
Department of Public Works officials said two strings of traffic lights were knocked to the ground and that the pole will have to be replaced.
The intersection was blocked off for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
