INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said he is calling on United Technologies and Carrier to return $1.2 million in tax incentives to the city within the next 30 days.

Wednesday, Gov. Pence said the company will return $1.2 million in tax abatement to the Metropolitan Development Commission in Indianapolis, after he met with Robert McDonough, President of United Technologies Climate, Controls and Security.

Mayor Hogsett released the following statement Thursday about the meeting:

“Yesterday, I was pleased to hear Governor Pence promise to bring $1.2 million in tax incentives back to our city from these two companies. And today, I am calling on United Technologies and Carrier to make good on this pledge and return these tax dollars within the next 30 days.

While I am disappointed by the lack of communication from Carrier’s management to our Carrier Task Force, it will continue to marshal resources to assist the hardworking families affected by this terrible decision. By immediately following through on this agreement with the governor, we will be able to invest this $1.2 million toward efforts to prepare these workers for the next chapter of their careers.”

Mayor Hogsett has also launched a website for the city's Carrier Task Force. Parts of the website have yet to be implemented.

The website will provide information and resources available to affected workers and their families, according to a press release from Hogsett's office.

After Carrier announced they were relocating 1,400 jobs from Indianapolis to Monterrey, Mexico, Hogsett issued an executive order to create a task force to assemble local, state and federal resources to help the employees.
