INDIANAPOLIS - Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Monday morning.

Metro police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Ruckle Street just before 6 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls reporting multiple gunshots.

Police searched an alley behind the home at 1913 Ruckle St., where they found a person dead.

The deceased man was identified as Charles Spurlock, 36, of Indianapolis. Police said Spurlock was shot several times behind his home in what appeared to be an ambush-style attack.

Officials have not released information potential suspects at this time.
