INDIANAPOLIS -- A housing police officer, fired while battling breast cancer, is now fighting to get her job back.

Two years ago, Marytza Golden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that forced her to have a double mastectomy.

The Indianapolis Housing Agency, where Marytza was employed, gave her until April 14, 2015, to return to work.

But she was still too sick.

Marytza said the agency denied her request for unpaid leave and then fired her because she couldn't return to work.

She took them to court over their decision, but a federal judge ruled in favor of her former employer.

Now Marytza is mounting a new fight, hoping to raise $25,000 to take her case to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.
