INDIANAPOLIS -- The largest chain of massage spas in the United States faces allegations that more than 180 clients were sexually assaulted at its locations.
Susan Ingram said she was assaulted during a massage in 2016, according to a Buzzfeed News investigation. No Indiana locations were implicated in the allegations.
Daina Craft, the CEO of Indiana Massage College, said there are standards in place for Indiana massage therapists to be able to work.
Staffers will check the Indiana sex offender registry and students undergo hours of ethics and conduct training.
"We go into great details about the ethical standards and that they're fully aware of that, that they know their responsibility to their clients when they're on-duty and in that massage room," Craft said.
Some of those standards include keeping conversations to a minimum and making sure private areas are covered.
