FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Authorities say a man apparently drowned after falling through thin ice while fishing alone on a private pond near Fort Wayne.
An Indiana conservation officer says emergency workers found 50-year-old Mark Pusey's body in the pond Tuesday night about 20 minutes after he was reported missing. The death happened at a pond near Interstate 469 just west of Fort Wayne.
Officer Patrick Heidenreich says Pusey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Heidenreich says people shouldn't venture onto ice that's less than 4 inches thick or go onto ice when alone.
Despite the subzero temperatures across the state early last week, highs reached to about 40 degrees over the weekend and Monday in Fort Wayne.
