IFD: Belmont fire cause 'undetermined'
Last Updated: 41 days ago
INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Fire Department investigators were unable to determine a case of the huge fire at a south side warehouse.
The warehouse, at 220 S. Belmont St., burned for days, and the smoke could be seen for miles.
Homeland Security Chief Gary Coons said a cause is classified "undetermined" when multiple causes could not be eliminated, or there is insufficient proof of a particular cause.
Investigators were able to determine the fire started on the west side of the warehouse.
The investigation at the scene of the fire has concluded, but Coons said investigators will continue to conduct interviews and follow up on leads.
