INDIANAPOLIS - Six people, including an infant, were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash that might have been caused by texting and driving.
A car, an SUV and a moving truck collided at East 38th Street and North Butler Avenue just after 2 Friday afternoon.
Investigators said the car, which was driven by a 28-year-old woman and had 12- and 14-year-old passengers, hit the moving truck, then the moving truck lost control and hit the SUV.
The truck's driver told investigators that the white car swerved over the center line and hit the truck, disabling the truck's steering.
Multiple witnesses told the responding firefighters that the woman driving the car appeared to be texting and was swerving.
The car's driver and two passengers were taken to IU Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The three people in the SUV, including an infant, were also taken to Methodist for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The two men in the moving truck were uninjured.
Police said the woman won't face charges, because an officer would have had to observe the texting.
