INDIANAPOLIS - Authorities were called to investigate a suspicious substance at a gas station on the city’s east side Wednesday afternoon.
Crews with the Indianapolis Fire Department were dispatched to a Ricker's gas station the 2100 block of North Post Road just after 3:30 p.m.
Authorities said the initial call came from a woman who was driving on the interstate and opened a piece of mail she had with her. She noticed the substance and called police, who advised her to pull over.
The suspicious substance was contained to an envelope and the area of contamination was contained to the car, officials said.
Tests confirmed that a sample taken from the car would be safe to send to a lab. IFD later confirmed the substance was determined not to be a threat, officials said.
The woman was taken to Community Hospital North to be checked out as a precaution, but officials said no serious injuries were reported.
