IMPD: 2 burglary suspects taken into custody after valuables, tools found in stolen car

Police found TV, jewelry, cash inside stolen car

INDIANAPOLIS - Two men were taken into custody early Monday after police found a TV, cash and jewelry inside a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop on the city's northwest side.

Just before 4 a.m., police got a tip about a suspicious, possibly stolen vehicle near 34th Street and Moller Road. When police spotted the car near the 5400 block of Lafayette Road, officers pulled the driver over.

Dispatchers said the passenger jumped out of the car, but police caught up with him after a short chase.

Police determined that the car was stolen and after a search, they found a TV, cash and jewelry inside. They also found tools, including a crowbar.

Investigators said they suspect the items inside the car were stolen from the Greystone Village Apartments and the tools were used to force entry.

The driver and the passenger were taken into custody. Their names were not released, but police said one of the suspects had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Lake County.
