INDIANAPOLIS - Police said an Evansville man was arrested this past weekend after witnesses reported he and his friends got so drunk at the Colts game that he caused injuries to another spectator.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said early Monday at roughly 1 a.m., officers headed to the emergency room of IU Methodist Hospital on a report of an assaulted person.
Officers spoke with a woman there who said she and her husband had been watching the Broncos-vs.-Colts game Sunday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium when she and other witnesses had to repeatedly report a group of men seated behind them to stadium security.
The witnesses said the men kept drinking and drinking, and were causing disturbances -- so many that the witnesses said they had to contact security several times to try to get the men calmed down. IMPD said one of these men was Kevin Moore, 40, of Evansville, Ind.
The woman told IMPD once the game was over, Moore fell over his seat and hit her in the back, causing her to fall into the seat below her. The woman had a large cut to her head and several bruises on her legs and ankles, officers said.
The woman and witnesses told IMPD they believed Moore had done this intentionally as payback for them making complaints against the intoxicated group of men.
Investigators were able to determine what hotel and room Moore was staying in, and officers headed to the hotel to arrest him.
IMPD said Moore faces a preliminary charge of assault.
Officials at Lucas Oil Stadium said they have a guest assist program that allows fans to report trouble in their section by paging ushers and security.
