INDIANAPOLIS - Just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police released the names of a man and woman killed Saturday morning when their motorcycle collided with a car near Broad Ripple.
According the initial police report, Chad Smith, 33, and his passenger, Lindsey Curtis, 31, were heading south on College Avenue on a motorcycle around 3:30 a.m. At the 56th Street intersection, police said it appeared the driver of a white Mitsubishi, Patrick Gulliam, 23, of Carmel, drove into the oncoming path of the motorcycle, causing it to strike the vehicle.
A third vehicle, a gray Chrysler driven by Amanda Balrom, 23, of Noblesville, was believed to be heading north on College Avenue when it struck the female passenger from the motorcycle, pinning her underneath the car.
Both Smith and Curtis, riding on the motorcycle, were declared dead at the scene.
Police said an uninjured passenger was inside the Chrysler at the time of the collision and was cooperating with investigators.
Alcohol is suspected to be involved with at least one of the vehicle's drivers, according to police, who transported both drivers to Wishard Memorial Hospital for blood draws.
