IMPD: Man broke into same pharmacy twice in 6 weeks
IMPD: Indy leads nation in pharmacy crimes

INDIANAPOLIS - Officers are looking for the suspect responsible for two recent break-ins at the Marwood Low Cost Pharmacy in Mars Hill.
The pharmacy has been broken into twice in the past six weeks.
The most recent break-in at the Marwood Pharmacy happened last week. The suspects forced open the door of an adjacent vacant business and broke through the wall to gain entry into the pharmacy.
"That's a lot of effort. You are really wanting to get into that pharmacy for whatever you're looking for to go through the effort to get into one business to break through and then gain access to that business," Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Det. Larry Craciunoiu said.
Six weeks ago, police believe the same suspect was captured on video surveillance casing the pharmacy before using the same method of entry.
In both burglaries, the suspect used a miner's lamp to light the way.
IMPD Southwest District detectives believe the recent burglaries may have some connection to two recent armed robberies of a CVS pharmacy one block away.
"It's not like breaking in and stealing a television set or stereos and then you pawn them for $20 to $50. If you get a whole bottle of 50 or 60 pills and sell them for $10 to $20 a pill, then you got a nice amount of profit you’re going to make," Craciunoiu said.
The Marwood Pharmacy has taken several steps to safeguard their inventory and improve surveillance of the business.
IMPD officials said the video gives them hope they can solve both burglaries.
Police said Indianapolis leads the nation in pharmacy robberies and drug store break-ins.
IMPD said that is because of a greater Drug Enforcement Administration oversight of doctors who are now less likely to write prescriptions to people who abuse painkillers.
