IMPD: Man fatally shot after argument at Indianapolis bar

Brian Fegley wanted in Elisha McAfee's shooting

INDIANAPOLIS - A standoff between police and a man suspected in a deadly shooting ended just before 6 p.m. with the suspect being rolled out on a gurney.

Police surrounded a hotel on Indianapolis' northeast side where the suspect in an early morning fatal bar shooting was holed up.

SWAT teams from Indianapolis and Lawrence surrounded the Value Place hotel in the 9500 block of Pendleton Pike around noon Thursday.

Brian Fegley, 41, is wanted in connection with the shooting death of Elisha McAfee, 33, of Fort Wayne, outside the Free Spirit bar in the 8100 block of North Shadeland Avenue early Thursday.

Investigators said McAfee is the son of Fegley's estranged girlfriend and that Fegley fired the shots when McAfee's mother tried to initiate a break-up.

Police said they found Fegley's car near the Value Place hotel.

The standoff ended when police shot tear gas into the room where Fegley was hiding. Police said he then shot himself.

Fegley's gunshot wound was not fatal, officials said. He was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
