IMPD identifies man found killed on sidewalk

Was fatally shot at least once, detectives say

INDIANAPOLIS - A man was found dead with at least one gunshot wound on a sidewalk on the city's east side Monday morning, Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers said.

Just after 8:30 a.m., IMPD officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of North Wallace Avenue on reports of a homicide. When police arrived at the scene, they said they found an unidentified, deceased black man who appeared to be in his 20s.

UPDATE: Police identified the man as Michael Taylor, 21. Detectives said he suffered at least one fatal gunshot wound.

Few details were released about how the man died or if police suspected foul play.  Investigators remained at the scene and traffic was restricted along the street near the scene where the body was found.
