INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said a man, 41, was killed in a trash compactor accident at World Media Group in the 6700 block of East 30th Street Wednesday.

Police said an employee was operating the on-site compactor and probably did not know the victim was inside.

Police have released few details in the incident, but World Media Group released a statement.

"We at World Media Group, Inc. would like to express our condolences to the family that experienced the loss of their loved one today in a tragic accident," the company said.

The company said the victim -- a sub-contractor of a leasing company, not a World Media Group employee -- was killed while repairing equipment.

"We are respecting the wishes of the family and the police department and will not release any further information regarding the accident," the company added.
