IMPD: Man shot, killed on NW side

Victim identified as Dequan Bird

INDIANAPOLIS - Police were investigating a fatal shooting on the city’s northwest side early Friday morning.

The incident happened in the 4800 block of Pendragon Boulevard just after midnight, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

When police arrived, they found an unresponsive male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying outside an apartment door, authorities said.

EMS officials pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as 20-year-old Dequan Bird.

Police did not release any suspect information, but several witnesses were taken to police headquarters for interviews.
