IMPD: Man struck wife in head with guitar during argument

Marijuana also found in suspect's possession

INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man was arrested Thursday night after his wife told police he struck her with a guitar.

Just after 11:30 p.m., IMPD officers responded to a call on the 1100 block of Dawson Street near Fountain Square.

They arrived to find a woman being treated by Wishard EMS crews for cuts and small lacerations on the left side of her head.

The woman told police she'd gotten into an argument with her husband, Thomas Garman. She said Garman grabbed a guitar for "no apparent reason" and then struck her in the head with it.

As officers were arresting Garman, they reportedly found a plastic bag containing marijuana in his pants pockets.

Garman was taken into custody at Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of domestic battery and marijuana possession.
