An Indianapolis Metro Police Department Officer was arrested on several felony charges after an alleged domestic violence situation involving his wife and the wife of another IMPD officer, officials said.
Officer John Haggard was taken into custody after police said he got into a physical argument Sunday with his wife at their home in the 8800 block of Browns Valley Court on the city's southwest side.
During the altercation, detectives said Haggard's wife sent a text message to the wife of another IMPD officer who lived across the street. The wife of the other IMPD officer entered the Haggards' home and took their child with her to her home across the street.
A short time later, detectives said Haggard forced his way into the fellow officer's home and took out his service handgun. No shots were fired, police said.
Haggard was arrested and taken into custody on several felony charges including criminal recklessness, criminal confinement, burglary and battery with injury. He was released on bond and suspended without pay, police said.
IMPD Chief Rick Hite confirmed the arrest, RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported.
Haggard has served IMPD for 14 years, officials said.
