INDIANAPOLIS -- Some kids in Indianapolis showed their support for police officers Tuesday.
Children from the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis Summer Academy honored IMPD Sergeant Kendale Adams with a song and a special ceremony.
It was their way of thanking Adams for volunteering this summer.
Organizers of the camp said, in the wake of the deadly shooting of five officers in Dallas, they wanted Sergeant Adams to know how much they appreciate the time he spends with them.
"When I thought about all of the turmoil that's going on across the country and not the recognition the men in blue should have and how I watch him ever day devote his time," said Vernice Williams, 100 Black Men of Indianapolis volunteer.
"All of the things we are dealing with in our country, to receive this type of recognition today, and I'm not an emotional person, but this almost brought me to tears, it really is just very impactful," said Sgt. Kendale Adams, IMPD.
Campers and the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis presented Sergeant Adams with a gift and balloons for his service.
The 100 Black Men of Indianapolis is a community group that helps provide the summer educational program and field trips for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade.
