INDIANAPOLIS - A driver led at least a dozen police cars on a chase Tuesday afternoon through Indianapolis streets and Interstate 70.
The car, carrying three people, led IMPD cars on a pursuit that began sometime after 1 p.m. and ended in a ditch of Interstate 70 on the city’s southwest side.

IMPD said the chase began at 82nd Street and Lafayette Road when someone took an item that had been delivered by a FedEx or UPS truck.
Investigators said they’ve been tracking the thieves for the last week-and-a-half after reports of other delivered items being stolen.
After the car was seen leaving the site of the theft Tuesday, police began pursuing it. Police said the pursuit spanned a big chunk of Indy's west side.
The car was headed east on I-70 near Minnesota Street (that’s near mile marker 75) when it ran off the road at roughly 1:30 p.m. Police cars entered eastbound I-70 and were driving west against traffic to catch the car.
The car reportedly crashed when it ran off the road. A woman, later identified as Ashley Sorrell, was driving, IMPD said. Three people -- one man and two women -- were taken into custody.
Police later identified the suspects. Officials said Sorrell, 26, was arrested on charges of auto theft, receiving stolen property and resisting law enforcement. Ashley Smiley, 55, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and Stephanie Vinson, 27, was arrested on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, police said.
Sorrell and Smiley were both taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for injuries, police said.
Investigators said they found items in the car that are linked to the reported thefts.
Investigators told RTV6's Julie Pursley they believe the thieves had been following delivery trucks around for the past week or two. The thieves would reportedly watch as the driver would get out and drop a package off on a doorstep, then, once the driver had left, they would steal the delivered packages.
Police also said a police vehicle was damaged during the pursuit. No officers were injured.
Traffic slowed on eastbound I-70 as officers investigated the scene.
