IMPD: Two people shot; Investigators look for possible connection

IMPD: Victims in fair, stable condition

INDIANAPOLIS - Two men were shot and injured on the city’s northeast side Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officials said the shooting happened in the 3900 block of North Emerson Avenue just after 4:30 p.m.

One victim was shot more than once and was found in the street, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Kendale Adams said.

That victim was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to fair condition, IMPD said.

The shooting happened not far from Monday afternoon’s fatal shooting.

A second male suffering from a gunshot wound took himself to Indiana University Methodist Hospital in stable condition, IMPD officials said.

Police did not confirm that the shootings were related, but were investigating any potential connection between the two incidents.

The recent string of violence has the community concerned.

A mother of a 2012 homicide victim said people committing the irrevocable violent acts need to consider the impact to the community and the families of the victims.

"Losing my son has made this whole situation really relevant to me. So whenever I hear someone else losing their son, their daughter, it's almost like me losing my son again because I know exactly how they feel," Sabrinna Stennette said.

Anyone with information should  call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
