IMPD: Woman killed on the south side in apparent murder-suicide attempt

INDIANAPOLIS -- Police have identified the woman found dead in her home on Indianapolis' south side Friday evening. 51-year-old Mary Matzke was found by her son on the 1000 block of East Edwards Ave.

Police were then told Matzke's husband, 52-year-old Mark, had attempted suicide at a home in Michigan.

Investigators believe Mark Matzke killed his wife Friday morning and then fled to Michigan. He is in the hospital in critical condition.

 

ORIGINGAL STORY:

A woman was found dead by her son in a home on Indianapolis' south side Friday evening.

The 51-year-old woman was found in the 1000 block of E. Edwards Avenue. An exact time of the discovery has not yet been released.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide, but do not have any suspects in her death.

No further details have been made available.
