INDIANAPOLIS - A man was critically injured in a shooting on the northeast side Tuesday evening.
The shooting happened near 36th Street and North Hawthorne Lane just before 6:30 p.m., officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.
IMPD said the adult male victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and genitals. He was found lying in the middle of the street when officers arrived.
He was taken to Eskenazi Health in critical condition.
A possible person of interest was detained and was waiting for detectives to arrive and begin their investigation, IMPD said. Authorities said the incident did not appear to be a random act of violence, but facts were still being gathered.
