INDIANAPOLIS - A community was on alert as authorities investigated reports of a man who might be trying to lure children into his van on the city's west side.
Police said one reported incident happened at the Cloverleaf Apartments earlier this week.
Parents told police a man in a red minivan allegedly tried to lure two children into his vehicle with candy.
Authorities said he may have also exposed himself to other children.
Some residents told RTV6 they have seen a similar van in the area, driving suspiciously, when school buses have dropped children off.
"I believe the one they're looking for is the one I seen here last week. He was driving in here slow. I didn't pay attention to the driver, but it was a red van, it had black ... he was driving slow enough, he looked like he was lost," parent Sam Cowart said.
Some parents found out about the incident through an automated message from their children’s school.
Police said the suspect is a white male who is balding and is believed to be in his 30s.
Police have increased patrols in the area, especially right after school and around school bus stops.
