ALEXANDRIA, Ind. -- Indiana country duo Joey and Rory Feek were nominated for the Grammy Award Best Country Duo/Group Performance with their song "If I Needed You."
That would be exciting news to any country group, but it is even more special to 40-year-old Joey, who remains in hospice after receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis.
It was news that brought Joey a smile amidst her pain in fighting the disease, who even after discontinuing her chemotherapy treatments still believes she can beat her cancer.
Rory, Joey's husband, has been posting regular updates to their blog and Facebook page about his wife's condition.
"There isn’t a day that goes by that she doesn’t look me and her family in the eye and say, 'I’m gonna beat this,' or, 'I’m getting better, I believe that,'" Rory wrote in one of his posts last week. "And she asks me if I believe it, and I do."
The lyrics of the song they were nominated for could not be more appropriate for the duo's relationship.
"If I needed you

For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the sea
For to ease your pain"
Rory said they performed the song to celebrate the birth of their 21-month-old daughter, Indiana, who has Down syndrome.
Rory's update to their Facebook page Monday revealed how impressive the nomination is:

The Feeks recently had their last dance before Joey became too weak to leave her bed.
The pair has been looking for ways to keep positive throughout their battle, making a decision to come home to Alexandria to be with family during Joey's final days.
And this news gives them something else to smile about. The Grammys are chosen Feb. 15, 2016.
