Indiana State Excise Police have cited four bars and clubs for illegal gambling related to betting on the Super Bowl and seized more than $93,000.
Cpl. Travis Thickstun says the most recent citations occurred Saturday. Officers cited Bridges Scoreboard restaurant and sports bar in Griffith on a preliminary charge of public nuisance for promoting professional gambling. Thickstun says officers seized nearly $54,000 there.
A telephone message seeking comment was left at the northwestern Indiana establishment Sunday.
Cited on the same charge Saturday was a Moose Lodge in the western Indiana city of Attica. A club trustee also was cited for hindering enforcement for allegedly making false statements to officers.
Excise officers also filed nuisance citations against a Hammond bar on Thursday and a Crown Point club on Jan. 23.
