INDIANAPOLIS - A clear day provided the perfect opportunity for an Indiana astronaut to capture a stunning view of Indianapolis from above.
Kevin Ford, 52, who took command of the International Space Station in November, took a picture of the Circle City from outer space Monday.
In the image, Indianapolis International Airport can be seen in the upper left, with Interstate 465 ringing the city and the White River cutting near downtown.
The oval of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is also clearly visible.
Ford, who considers Montpelier his hometown, graduated from Blackford High School and the University of Notre Dame before becoming a pilot in the Air Force and rising to the rank of colonel.
Ford is set to return to Earth next month.
