GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Officers with Indiana's Department of Natural Resources found the body of a kayaker Monday morning who went missing in a Putnam County river.
According to DNR officers, a man was kayaking with five other people on Big Walnut Creek in Greencastle when he went missing Saturday. The group told officers that the man had attempted to pass over the low head dam at the Greencastle City Water Treatment Plant.
DNR officers were able to locate some of the man's belongings within the boil line of the low head dam but the kayaker did not resurface.
Crews spent much of Saturday evening and Sunday searching several miles below the dam and along the creeks banks. The search resumed Monday at 7:30 a.m. The man's body was found at about 8:45 a.m.
The Department of Natural Resources has identified the man as Timothy Wells, 29, of Indianapolis.

The hydraulic pressure in a low head dam system is incredibly dangerous, and Indiana Conservation Officers highly recommend to avoid contact such dams, and the use of life jackets and extreme caution when in their vicinity.
Greencastle Fire Department, Cloverdale Fire Department, Fillmore Fire Department, Madison Fire Department, Operation Life Ambulance Service, and Hendricks County Water Rescue have all assisted with the search.
