A Republican delegate from Evansville says he won't be attending his party's national convention, and there's a very definite reason: Donald Trump.

In a statement to CNN, attorney Joshua Claybourn said he would be passing his delegate position to an alternate because he can't bring himself to support Trump.

"He opposes free trade, he's skeptical of free speech and free association, he peddles fear and mean-spirited insults, and he lacks a mature temperament needed at home and abroad," Claybourn wrote in the statement. "More often than not, Mr. Trump simply takes the most politically expedient position, and thus he lacks the principles we need to trust where he stands on other critical issues."

Claybourn said he'd hoped to influence the process at a contested convention, but now that Trump is the uncontested nominee, "I will not attend a convention celebrating his candidacy."

Claybourn isn't alone among his party, many of whom remain firm #NeverTrump supporters – even after the dissolution of the campaigns of competitors Ted Cruz and John Kasich.

For his part, a magnanimous Trump spoke Tuesday night following the results of Indiana's primary, saying it was time to bring the Republican Party together.
