LEXINGTON, Ky. -- An Indianapolis man was arrested in Kentucky after state police there say he traveled there to have sex with a teenager he met online.

Dean Nixon, 50, is charged with prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor for sex.

Kentucky State Police say Nixon was arrested as part of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.  The investigation began after their Electronic Crime Branch caught him using an online chat to communicate with who he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

On Thursday, state police say Nixon traveled from Indiana where they say he was planning to illicit sexual contact with the minor.

State police searched Nixon’s vehicle and hotel room and seized electronic equipment that will be used as evidence.

If convicted, Nixon is facing one to five years in prison.
